Bucket Lists

Stop dreaming about your bucket list and start living it. - Annette White

After watching several of our runners take on three of the World Majors in the last few weeks, I began to think about running bucket lists. There are many races that I have completed, some were in my bucket list, while others I needed to run to lead me to that goal.

I am in awe of all the runners in our group who have the drive to complete the 6 Marathon Majors. It is a feat that is truly incredible.

I wish I could say that I had that drive to complete these amazing marathons, so I just watch all of you and try to be your biggest cheerleader from afar!

I looked back on my own bucket list, which I created after watching Oprah one day in college. At the top of the list was to run a half marathon (check!) and run the New York City Marathon (check x 3).

There are still a few races that I would live to run:

  • Rock and Roll Half Marathon in Nashville - I heard the music is incredible

  • Falmouth Road Race - amazing scenery along the Massachusetts coast

  • Army 10 Miler - I feel like I have to do this in memory of my grandfather.

  • Cherry Blossom 10 Miler - nothing says "HELLO SPRING!" like running through DC's famous cheery blossoms. I really want to join the other NewRo Runners in a group (maybe next year!!)

  • Bay to Breakers - this race seems cool as you run along the San Francisco bay

  • runDisney in Disneyland while also running in a runDisney in Disney World in the same year - you get a special "Castle to Castle" medal - if you know me.... then well you know my love of Disney!

Hopefully, at some point in my lifetime I will get to these races which is why you have bucket lists. These races might not be on my calendar at this time, so for now I'm checking off my next 9+1. Until then, I will cheer for my fellow NewRo Runners and keep chugging along myself!
